In Texas, the cops are looking for a man named Paul Nixon from Houston, as he not only allegedly filed for a divorce in court but also forged his wife’s signature on the documents. After a lot of effort and a long legal process, he got a divorce from the court.
The 51-year-old man wanted to get rid of his wife by ending his marriage, and to do so he decided to go to court along with all the legal documents which were required. Nixon forged his wife’s signature on the documents and faked a notary’s approval and finally managed to get the final divorce decree.
On February, 15, the next day after Valentine’s day he filed the paperwork and in April, received the final decree. During that time, his wife was not aware of what was happening.
A police officer who was investigating this case said to The New York Post,
“We rarely see something like this.”
“Paul Nixon has been charged with aggravated perjury for reportedly lying to the courts about the validity of the forms and information.”
“In this particular case, the gentleman decided to go through a divorce, but the only problem is that he left his wife out of the process. And that’s a violation of the law here in Texas, ” told by Harris County Constable Mark Herman.
He also told that Mrs Nixon had no idea that her husband had divorced her three months before.
“The poor woman thought she was still married to this idiot.”
“She was very surprised when she finally got to know about the whole thing. She started finding things showing that he was spending money on jewelry, so she confronted him, and he told her that they were actually divorced.” He said.
The Police officers said that, when Nixon revealed to her that he secretly ended their marriage and he was no longer her husband, so she instantly contacted them.
After coming to the Police officials, she discovered that her husband had been trying to dissolve their marriage for three months. She said that her husband didn’t let her know about what he was up to throughout the court procedure. She also told the officers that, she got married to Nixon a few years back.
The police spoke to the news outlet and said that according to the law, the couple is still married and not divorced yet as Nixon used faked signatures of his wife in the court without her consent.
“They are still legally married; the fraudulent divorce papers have been retracted.”
The police also added that Nixon ran away and they failed to find him, but soon they will get caught as their teams are in search of him.
“We’ve got teams of officers out looking for him right now, but we have an idea where he’s at. So hopefully, he’ll turn himself in. If not, we’ll catch him. Just a matter of time.”
“He will face up to ten years in prison if convicted.” Said, Herman.
