One of the most respected actors in Hollywood named Liam Neeson who has done so many notable projects throughout his career and also performed leading roles in chart-topping films including Schindler’s List, Star Wars, just to name a few, Taken, and Men in Black. His renowned career in the entertainment industry perfectly reflects how he is in actual life.
In the year 1993, Liam met his love of life for the first time when they both were cast in Anna Christie. During that time, the Taken superstar was popular for his reputation as a ‘ladies’ man,’ and Natasha was the wife of a producer named Robert Fox.
“I’d never had that kind of an explosive chemistry situation with an actor or actress,” Liam appeared on 60 Minutes and shared with Anderson. “We had just this wonderful kind of dance—free dance on stage every night. She and I were like [Fred] Astaire and [Ginger] Rogers.”
After taking divorced from her ex-husband, Natasha started dating Liam and she instantly fell in love with him despite of his being famous among women.
“Working with him, what happened between us, and that becoming public knowledge in conjunction with my marriage falling apart, was kind of bad timing,” Natasha said to the New York Daily News. “So what can I say? Obviously, I fell very much in love with him.”
On the day of her 30th birthday, Neeson sent her a card in which he wrote,
You’re catching up with me. Lots of love, Oskar.”
When Richardson read Liam’s card, she instantly confronted him because she wanted to ask him about their relationship status.
“This is like a letter from a buddy. What is our relationship?” Natasha asked.
Neeson told at that time, he already knew that he was in love with her.
“That was when I knew I really loved this person. I thought, ‘This is real and genuine and is something that has to be protected,’” he said.
And in 1994, the two got married on a farm in NYC.
The couple welcomed two children together including Michaeál & Daniel. The lovely family stayed together and lived a happy life for almost 16 years until that tragic day when their world went upside down.
Natasha and Liam were present at the Mont Tremblant Ski Resort on March 18th 2009, where she met a skiing accident that caused her severe head injury. Natasha was immediately taken to the hospital, however, the damage was too much and led to internal bleeding.
When Liam spoke to CNN’S Anderson Cooper, he opened up about the most tragic day of his life and said:
“I was told she was brain dead. And seeing this X-ray, it was, like, “Wow.” You know. But obviously, she was on life support and stuff. And I went into her and told her I loved her. Said, “Sweetie, you’re not coming back from this. You’ve banged your head. It’s– I don’t know if you can hear me, but that’s– this is what’s gone down. And we’re bringing ya back to New York. All your family and friends will come.” And that was more or less it. You know?”
While describing the last moments he spent with Natasha, he said that she ‘took a tumble in the snow’.
“I spoke to her, and she said, ‘Oh darling. I’ve taken a tumble in the snow,’ That’s how she described it.”
Liam further added that they both made a pact and now her organs are saving lives of other people.
“She and I had made a pact. If any of us got into a vegetative state that we’d pull the plug. You know? So when I saw her and saw all these tubes and stuff, that was my immediate thought. Was, “OK, these tubes have to go. She’s gone.” But donated three of her organs, so she’s keeping three people alive at the moment. Yeah. Her heart, her kidneys, and her liver.”
Their sons badly felt the damage of losing their mother so early. At the time of Natasha’s death Micheál was just 13 years old. Liam also shared about what that loss had been like.
According to Liam, he still felt the same pain in his heart after years of her death and it would never leave him as it was not easy to accept that she was not with him anymore.
”Her death was never real. It still kind of isn’t. There’re periods now when I hear the door opening,” the Hollywood legend shared with Loaded Magazine. “And I still think I’m going to hear her.”
While recalling the great time he had with Natasha, the Blacklight star said that one of the most beautiful things about his lovely wife was her generous and passionate maternal love.
“She cared for everybody,” he told. “She has a motherly instinct. And she’d make dinners for everyone and just looked after us all.”
In the year 2016, on the day of their 22nd wedding anniversary, the actor shared a heart-touching message with his fans via his social media account, in which he advised everyone to cherish their close ones every day, and most especially their partners as life is so short and unpredictable.
”We have to stop and be thankful for our spouses. Because, life is very short. Spend time with your spouses. Treat them well. Because, one day, when you look up from your phone, they won’t be there anymore. Live and love (every day) like it’s your last. Because, one day, it will be. Take chances and go live life. Tell the ones you love, that you love them every day,” Liam penned.
