The Sydney-based rapper went on a great spending spree after having a massive transfer error of money. However, he had to go through a court trial later, because he did the wrong thing instead of choosing the right way.
A wannabe Australian rapper was charged with a criminal offense as he took advantage of a situation in which a couple transferred an enormous amount of money accidentally in his bank account
In 2022, a man named Abdel Ghadia received almost $75,000 in his bank account as the young couple mistakenly type the wrong number while doing their bank transfer payment for a house.
When 24-year-old Ghadia received the money, he decided to go on a wild shopping spree instead of returning the money to the couple, and then he spent an entire amount of them.
As per the reports of a Fairfield Advocate, an anonymous couple who were all ready to buy their new house and their deal was also finalized at that time with the sellers, accidentally sent $759,314 to Abdel Ghadia’s account instead of transferring the money to the Commonwealth bank account of the house owners.
But, after some days, the couple’s business attorney called them to inform them that their broker didn’t receive any payment in their bank account yet.
On the other hand, Ghadia who had received the money in his bank account splashed an entire payment on gold bars, foreign exchange, overpriced makeup products and expensive clothes.
According to the Advocate, the police arrested the Western Sydney native who had been earning $48,00 from a clothes warehouse in October 2021. When the interrogation process was going on, Abdel accepted that one day after waking up he saw the massive amount of money in his bank account.
“The court reportedly heard that Ghadia told police he ‘just woke up and saw the money’ – and proceeded to buy almost $600,000 on gold bullion at one store in Sydney, plus more than $110,000 at a separate Brisbane store, where he also bought expensive coins.”
The investigation also revealed that the aspiring rapper bought so much expensive make products from Mecca, clothes from Uniqlo, and also got some foreign exchange for him.
When they asked Abdel about money, he replied, “The money just dropped into my account, and I spent it. I had no idea how it got there, and I told the bank, but I did go and spend it.”
After knowing about their money and Abdel having spent it all on himself, the couple got extremely shocked and traumatized.
As per Daily Mail, “The horrified couple was devastated when they learned their funds had not arrived in the designated account for settlement,”
“Court records indicate he pleaded guilty to two charges of dealing with the property proceeds of crime with a sum greater than $100,000.”
Abdel Ghadia, who is known by the username of ‘Slimmy’ on YouTube, wrote a rap rhyme on his socials as well, he also claimed that the police were continuously tapping all his phone calls.
“Detectives making offers asking where’d the MONEY GO. They tapping all my phonecalls but I speak a different LINGO!!”
The Fairfield Advance court documents disclosed that the gold bought by the Aussie rapper is yet to be recovered.
The 24-year-old musician had to face strict bail conditions until November. He was banned from walking around the international airport and also had a curfew from 10 to 7 am.
On December 2022, the rapper was finally sentenced.
