Keanu Reeves Says He Wants to Become A US Citizen After 37-Years

The John Wick star, Keanu Reeves, said that now he is considering to become a US citizen after residing there for thirty-seven years.

58-year old Canadian actor came to America, in 1986 when he was just 20 years old.

On Thursday, he appeared in an episode of Jimmi Kimmel Live and shared his past memories when he was new in Toronto and also explained that how passionately he wanted to become an actor.

“I came to Hollywood when I was 20, drove in my car,” he told Jimmy. “I’ve been living here since 1985.”

Kimmel, asked him that for almost three decades he has been residing in the US and still he is not a citizen of US.

“And, yet technically, you’re not a US citizen,” the show host asked.

“You’re a Canadian, and you’ll always be a Canadian, but is that not something you’re interested in, being a US citizen?” he also said.

“Yeah, absolutely,” the John Wick actor answered“Yeah, man, why not?”

The host joked that the President Joe Biden should ask Keanu about his US citizenship that why he hasn’t signed for it yet. The John Wick actor replied,

“I would send the 46th president copies of my new comic book BRZRKR to prove I have what it takes” he replied while laughing.

Kimmel 54, also brought up the citizenship papers in front of Keanu and said jokingly that he can help him to speed up the process by marry him.

“But you’re married,” Keanu laughed.

Jimmy responded: “I know, but I told her that we might have to make some amendments to our constitution.”

Jimmy Kimmel, also offered to host a grand ceremony on his show for welcoming Reeves, “as a new American”when he will officially become a US citizen.

“And we’ll get all your favorite heroes, Captain America and Wonder Woman will come here; it’ll be very patriotic,” he said.

“And the leprechaun,” Keanu added.

“You can still be a dual citizen, right? I mean, I don’t want to, like, you know, right?” Jimmy also said while joking that when Keanu will become a US citizen Canada, will automatically lose the gem.

“Two sometimes is better than one, right? Better for ice cream…” the actor responded.

The Matrix star talked about his all time favorite role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and said that as a youngster I always wanted to play a Ghost Rider in a Marvel movie.

“10-year-old Reeves would want to — I think he’d probably want to be Ghost Rider.”

“It’s really cool. I think the way that the Marvel films have developed and what they are is really spectacular, and it would be great to be a part of that.”
