Gigi Hadid Quit Twitter Because Of Its New Leadership and Said “It’s Not A Place I Want to Be A Part Of”

Following Elon Musk’s takeover many celebrities including Shonda Rhymes, Mia Farrow, Josh Gad, Rob Reiner, Shaun King, Ken Olin, and Amy Siskind already left Twitter and now Gigi Hadid has become the latest celebrity to quit the platform.

On Saturday, 5th November, the supermodel posted a story on her Instagram account where she shared the reason for deleting her Twitter account with her 76 million followers and said, she left the platform due to its new leadership.

“I deactivated my Twitter account today,” she wrote in her Instagram Story.

“For a long time, but especially with its new leadership, it’s becoming more and more of a cesspool of hate & bigotry, and it’s not a place I want to be a part of,” she further added.

“Only sorry to the fans who I’ve loved connecting with for a decade via Twitter, but I can’t say it’s a safe place for anyone, not a social platform that will do more good than harm,” 27-year-old Gigi concluded.

Gigi Hadid, a founder, creator, and director of a clothing line, ‘Guest in Residence’ accompanied a post alongside a tweet of Shannon Raj Singh, an American attorney specializing in international criminal law, atrocity prevention, and the intersection of tech and human rights.

In her recent Tweet, Shannon claimed that the entire Human Rights team including her was removed from the company. Singh further revealed that she feels proud of herself because she contributed in protecting the ones who were at risk.

“Yesterday was my last day at Twitter: the entire Human Rights team has been cut from the company. I am enormously proud of the work we did to implement the UN Guiding Principles on Business & Human Rights, to protect those at-risk in global conflicts & crises including Ethiopia,” her caption read.

As per Daily Mail,

Hadid’s decision comes after Bot Sentinel, a data firm, found that Twitter may have lost over a million users since Musk bought the tech company for $44 billion, indicating that some users have been suspended by the company and others may have deactivated out of protest.”

The tech mogul has been continuously facing backlash for almost all the changes he made after his takeover, because many people including celebrities started feeling uncomfortable after this news.

Following Twitter’s new owner Elon’s visit to the company headquarters with his new plans to charge $8 per month for the blue tick verification, there is not any chance that he will be going easy on anyone.

When he announced the news that he had bought Twitter, his ex-girlfriend, Amber Heard also vanished from the microblogging app.

According to the reports, Heard’s account disappeared from the platform after few days of Musk announcing his ownership on Twitter.

It was noticed by multiple media outlets and many people that Heard’s official account, @realamberheard, is no longer on Twitter. However, it is still not confirmed whether she deactivated her account herself or it was Elon who deleted his ex-girlfriend’s account after becoming the ‘Chief Twit’.

The Aquaman star started dating Musk, in April 2017, after her high-profile divorce from her ex-husband, Johnny Depp.

People Magazine reported, The former couple was first spotted out together several times throughout 2016, sparking romance rumors, and later went official with their relationship in April 2017.”

After spending four months in a relationship, the former couple parted their ways in August 2017. Few months later Heard and Musk reconciled, and then in year 2018, they eventually called it quit.
