One and a half month after Henry Cavil confirmed his departure from The Witcher, he also announced that he won’t be playing his role as Superman.
On Wednesday, 14th December, the dashing Henry shared the news with his 23.1 million Instagram followers that his turn to wear the cape has been over now.
He wrote in his Instagram post, “I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman.”
“After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life,” he further said. “The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. James and Peter have a universe to build.”
The 39-year-old Cavill, wished very good luck and the happiest of fortunes to the recent heads of DC Films.
“For those who have been by my side through the years, we can mourn for a bit,” he said. “But then we must remember…. Superman is still around. Everything he stands for still exists, and the examples he sets for us are still there!”
“My turn to wear the cape has passed,” he ended his post. “But what Superman stands for never will. It’s been a fun ride with you all, onwards and upwards!”
When the Man of Steel star made an announcement that his journey as superhero has ended, his fans started to fume and a lot of people expressed their rage on social media as they are disappointed with the decision.
As I’ve stated many times, Superman is my favorite DC character and one of my favorite characters in all of comic books & pop culture. Henry Cavill’s presence over the character will loom larger as time passes. A colossal fumble in utilizing an amazing talent.

If Henry Cavill is no longer Superman, this whole universe has to be rebooted.

On October 30, 2022, Henry also made another similar announcement regarding his exit from playing the character of monster-hunting Geralt of Rivia in the Netflix’s series, The Witcher.
At the end of October, Cavill took his Instagram and wrote, “Some news to share from The Continent…”
“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4.”
The Enola Holmes actor has confirmed that the Australian actor and The Bunger Games alum, Liam Hemsworth would be taking over his role.
“In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.”
“Liam, good sir,” he also wrote. “This character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.”
Henry’s fans got extremely heartbroken after hearing the news that the British actor would not be playing the role of the last son of planet Krypton as he is not part of The Witcher now.
I did not have “mourning the loss of two beloved henry cavill characters” on my 2022 bingo card. pic.twitter.com/Ph9yAWu2Zv

Peter & I have a DC slate ready to go, which we couldn’t be more over-the-moon about; we’ll be able to share some exciting information about our first projects at the beginning of the new year.

Even though many people were not considered their Tweet as reciprocated, and according to the majority of people they have disappointed with the DC movies.

In the year 2013, people saw Henry Cavill first time as Superman in DC Comics Man of Steel. In October he made his last cameo appearance wearing the red cape in the Warner Bros. movie, Black Adams.
After his cameo, many of his fans assumed that they are going to see Henry as superman on the big screen again. However, when the official announcement came from the actor on Wednesday, that his comeback wouldn’t possible now, the fans felt so much heartbroken.
As many of his fans we are also not feeling good that Henry Cavill wouldn’t appear on the big screen as Superman, and we will not see him again as the great Geralt of Rivia, hunting evil monsters. But we wholeheartedly wish that the actor will thrive in all his upcoming endeavors.
