The model, Emma Heming Willis shared updates about her husband’s health condition with fans, after his retirement from acting last year due to his diagnosis.
Recently, the 44-year-old entrepreneur dropped her views on a feature documentary from Max Lugavere about his mother’s battle with dementia and discussed the difficulties they have to face in her husband’s treatment who is also fighting with this disease.
“Max chronicles his mother Kathy’s battle with dementia while he educates himself on everything he can do to help her. His love for his mother is powerful. His motivation to find answers from leading health experts is inspiring, and then be so gracious to share that information is a true blessing,” Emma wrote on her Instagram account.
She also said that the treatment options are slim and, “It would be an absolute disservice if this documentary is not on a screen near us soon. Thank you Max for being so brave and vulnerable to share the journey and spotlighting the importance of brain health. When you live the world of dementia you know that options are slim. But some won’t take that lying down which is how change is made and I got to witness the beauty in that last night.”
Commenting on her post, Max wrote, “You’re a warrior, and I’m so proud to be in this fight with you.”
Willis’ ex-wife named Demi Moore also wrote under Heming’s post, “Looking forward to see it!”
A couple of months before, Bruce’s family shared a recent update about his condition and diagnosis, where they revealed that the actor was diagnosed with untreatable frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
“Our family wanted to start by expressing our deepest gratitude for the incredible outpouring of love, support, and wonderful stories we have all received since sharing Bruce’s original diagnosis. In the spirit of that, we wanted to give you an update about our beloved husband, father, and friend since we now have a deeper understanding of what he is experiencing,” Rumer Willis shared with fans via her Instagram.
“Since we announced Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia in spring 2022, Bruce’s condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD). Unfortunately, challenges with communication are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces. While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis.”
The star’s family said thanks to all the fans and supporters who showed love and gratitude towards him and asked everyone to pray for his health.
Bruce’s family including his ex-wife, Demi Moore, now wife Emma Heming Willis, and three of his daughters, Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah shared an entire statement about their father’s recent diagnosis and then posted it on The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration’s website.
“FTD is a cruel disease that many of us have never heard of and can strike anyone. For people under 60, FTD is the most common form of dementia, and because getting the diagnosis can take years, FTD is likely much more prevalent than we know. Today there are no treatments for the disease, a reality that we hope can change in the years ahead,” their statement read.
“As Bruce’s condition advances, we hope that any media attention can be focused on shining a light on this disease that needs far more awareness and research.”
They further added, “Bruce always believed in using his voice in the world to help others, and to raise awareness about important issues both publicly and privately. We know in our hearts that – if he could today — he would want to respond by bringing global attention and a connectedness with those who are also dealing with this debilitating disease and how it impacts so many individuals and their families.”
In March 2022, the blended family of the actor revealed that he took a break from his acting career due to aphasia, it was a severe brain condition that has affected his cognitive abilities.
“To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family, we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities.”
“As a result of this and with much consideration, Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.” The Hollywood icon’s daughters wrote on Instagram.
His family also asked his fans to pray for the actor’s health in their joint Instagram post. The family stated that they are going through a hard time and requested everyone to respect their privacy.
“This is a really challenging time for our family, and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion, and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him.”
They concluded the post by writing,
“As Bruce always says, ‘Live it up,’ together, we plan to do just that.”
