Following the Amber Heard/Johnny Depp trial, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has been shrouded by controversy this year.
Earlier this year, when the trial was at its peak for the never-ending battle between Heard and Depp, rumors started spreading about how the trial will affect Heard’s future with Aquaman.
At one point, rumors suggested that Heard’s role was expected to be cut as Warner Bros. was looking forward to having a new actress who can play Mera’s role for the follow-up to last year’s box-office success. Jason Mamoa’s former Game of Thrones, co-star, Emilia was expected to replace Heard as Mera.
Now fans got a chance to see how would Clarke look if she will take Heard’s role, many thanks to a recent stunning piece of fan art.
Emilia Clarke stuns as Mera in image replacing Amber Heard
With the fans demand to replace Amber Heard, because they wanted to see Emilia Clarke as Mera, a renowned digital artist and creative retoucher named Deigo de Sousa recently showed a jaw-dropping piece of concept art which shows Clarke replacing Heard by playing Mera’s character.
The art portrays Clarke wearing the iconic customer of Mera which was introduced by Heard in Aquaman. It’s nothing but a conceptual preview of how Clarke would look like when she will take the role of Mera, however it left us speechless!
After seeing the potential look of Clarke, the fans of Comics Mera demanded to hire Clarke for the character.
Is Aquaman 2 going to feature Emilia Clarke in place of Amber Heard?
Following the rumors, fans seem very excited and couldn’t wait to see Emilia Clarke playing the character Mera in Aquaman II. Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Discovery has not made any official announcement yet regarding recasting the role, though it was revealed by executives that they were considering it.
During the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard trial earlier this year, DC Films President Walter Hamada disclosed there was concern about recasting Heard due to a “chemistry issue” between the actress and Jason Momoa.
Ultimately, they decided not to cast Heard again for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, it is possible that the character could be recast anytime if something more is approved. No doubt, Warner Bros. Discovery is having different changes right now.
Is Emilia Clarke in Aquaman 2?
Emilia Clarke is not going to be featured in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, but the search of the Aquaman 2 cast would make you believe that she is in it. Google has a cast carousel feature about Aquaman 2, and Clarke’s name appears in it, however, she is not scheduled to be the part of the film.
There is always a chance that DC will eventually bring Game of Thrones alum, Clarke into the mix because she is not doing any DC projects at the moment. Emilia is currently attached to a Marvel project as she will going to appear in next year’s secret Invasion, an original Disney Plus series.
