After dealing with her never-ending legal battle with ex-husband Johnny Depp, the Aquaman actress decided to step away from the spotlight because of her daughter’s better future and now is living in Europe without any plans to return to Hollywood.
As per PEOPLE, it was revealed by a source that the Rum Diary actress is currently residing in Europe with her daughter named Oonagh, who is just 18-month-old. Now Heard is only focusing on her daughter’s well-being.
“The trial was exhausting for her,” told by the insider to the publication. “She missed her little girl.”
“Amber has spent the last few months in Europe, which she loves, and she is able to just be a mom there. Currently, she is focused on raising her daughter,” the source further said. “She spends every day with her girl. They stroll around, visit parks and enjoy family time. Amber is a great mom.”
Marca also reported, there are many chances that Heard would not become the part of promotional tours of her movie.
“Although nobody confirmed if she was out of the sequel yet, this report suggests she will at least be absent from the entire press tour when it happens,” an outlet revealed.
“However, there still hasn’t been any confirmation about her involvement as Mera in the film. With so many changes happening at DC, James Gunn will also have to make a decision about either keeping or cutting Amber Heard from the ‘Aquaman’ sequel with co-star Jason Momoa. For now, we won’t hear from the actress in any films any time soon.”
Not only during the trial Heard faced a lot of online criticism but also after the trial she received severe public backlash. She went through a darkest time of her life – from starting petitions to remove her from the cast of Aquaman 2, to ban from Hollywood, forever. Many people including the Pirates of the Caribbean actor’s fans did all the possible things to teach Heard a lesson.
Amber started all this with her 2018 op-ed, in the Washington Post, in which she wrote defamatory statements against her ex-husband, Johnny Depp.
In her 2018 op-ed, the Rum Diary actress claimed that she was a victim of domestic violence. She didn’t directly mention the name of Depp, but it was clear that she talked about her former husband, Johnny Depp.
When Heard’s alleged statements came against her ex-husband, many people called out Depp for being a domestic abuser and he was also removed from the multibillion-dollar grossing, Fantastic Beast franchise.
After her false allegations Depp 59, filed a case against ex-wife, Amber, and then she countersued him and called him a manipulative liar.
Their on-and-off trial lasted for six weeks and came to an end in June 2022, when the court announced the decision in favor of Depp. In Fairfax, Virgina, the seven-member jury gave the verdict in favor of the 59-year-old actor and also awarded him $10 million in damages. Now it was apparent that Heard made false claims in her 2018 Washington Post, op-ed against the Pirates of the Caribbean star that he abused her physically and mentally. The 36-year-old actress was ordered by the court to pay $350,000 in damages and $8 million in compensatory damages. However, at that time her lawyer claimed that her client could not able to pay the total amount.
After the final verdict, both of them filed several appeals against each other and their legal fight was still going on.
In August 2022, Amber Heard’s representative shared that the actress had replaced her legal team and for leading her appeal she hired new attorneys, including David L Axelrod and Jay Ward Brown of Ballard Spahr.
“When it comes to protecting the fundamental right of Freedom of Speech, we look at the jury’s decision — to paraphrase a famous quote — not ‘as the beginning of the end, but merely the end of the beginning.’ A different court warrants different representation, particularly as so much new evidence is now coming to light.” as per the statement which was released on behalf of Heard.
